On my Baby Girl’s 6 month Doctor’s appointment we talked with her pediatrician about first foods. Dr. Jacob’s was really helpful and let us know that introducing her to foods one at a time is key. A good rule of thumb is one new food for three days before you try the next food. We have done rice cereal for while now. I’m ready for the next food! Let’s try avocados! Avocados are great because you don’t have to cook them! I am also drawn to them because I don’t have to puree it. Easy A!
The Recipe:
1) One ripe Avocado - I got an organic Avocado at Trader Joe’s. A ripe Avocado has some give when you press your fingers into it but it’s not too soft.
2) A fork
Roll the avocado on the counter or cutting board to loosen the fruit from the seed. Cut in half then dig out a small slice. Mash it with a fork till it’s a nice smooth texture. The texture is nice and baby friendly without adding BM or formula. You can store slices of unused avocado to mash another day. If you store with the seed the avocado will last longer.
